The Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA), an industry-backed group that spends millions of dollars each cycle to back the election of Republican attorneys general, celebrated its December 2017 holiday party in style at the Washington D.C. Trump International Hotel. The details were contained in an invitation to the event provided to Documented, and confirmed in expenditure records in the group's filings with the IRS. The group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), first reported on the RAGA payments to the Trump hotel, although at that point it was not clear what event the payments related to. According to RAGA's IRS filings for the second half of 2017, the group paid the Trump International Hotel a total of $38,124, split over six separate payments. The total expenditure for that event was $38,352. Republican attorneys General have enjoyed significant access to the President since he took office, with numerous events and meetings on a range of issues, including most recently on gun control. The NRA was the second largest contributor to RAGA in 2017, as first reported by Documented.
