The National Center for Housing Management (NCHM) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit created in 1972 by the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), tasked with developing standards and providing training to providers of affordable housing in the United States.

In 2016, the year Trump was elected, it provided Turning Point USA (TPUSA), a group with deep ties to Republican politics and to President Trump and his family, with a check for $225,000.

DeSmog, which has a detailed profile of TPUSA, previously noted that the group received $10,000 from NCHM in 2015.

TPUSA claims to have a presence on 1,300 college campuses in the US, promoting free market ideas, and encouraging support for President Trump and his agenda.

A highly revealing 2017 profile by Jane Mayer of the New Yorker, describes how TPUSA -- despite its legal status as a 501(c)(3) non-profit -- assisted Republican candidates in the 2016 election cycle.

According to Mayer, "Turning Point USA is also alleged to have fostered an atmosphere that is hostile to minorities." One text message sent by the then TPUSA national field director to another staff member, provided to the New Yorker, read “i hate black people. Like fuck them all . . . I hate blacks. End of story.”

NCHM was established based on the recommendations of a 1972 Presidential blue-ribbon task force that looked at standards in affordable housing. Following the task force's report, President Nixon issued an executive order that tasked HUD with creating NCHM.

According to the NCHM website: "NCHM was created as a private, non-profit organization—not a federal agency—so that it would be free from political influence and therefore better able to advocate for objective industry standards."

Since the start of the Trump Presidency, Donald Trump, members of his administration, and Trump family members, have all been regular guests at TPUSA events across the country. The President has used twitter to promote TPUSA to his 63 million twitter followers.

Kirk, who has described President Trump as a gift from god, has said that Trump will be "America's greatest President." Turning Point USA President Charlie Kirk told Fox News in July 2019 that it is launching a massive get out the vote effort for 2020 on behalf of Trump, part of its "Students for Trump" campaign.
