H.R. 1 has passed the house, but it’s facing a coordinated right wing backlash

H.R. 1 passed out of the House last night. It now heads to the Senate with a hearing scheduled in the Senate Rules Committee on March 24th. The Democratic majority in the House ensured that it sailed through mostly along party lines, but it wont be so simple in the Senate. The right wing opposition to the bill has been going into overdrive over the past two weeks. Donald Trump and Mike Pence have both blasted the bill and everything points to the Senate hearing being pretty contentious.

Lawyer forced to resign from law firm over Trump effort to steal the election resurfaces in new role

Cleta Mitchell was the go-to election lawyer for Republicans. She served on the Board of Governors for the Republican National Lawyers Association. Arguably she was at the top of her profession. She had built up a legal practice in Washington D.C. over the past 30 years, most recently as a Partner at Foley & Lardner where she was employed for two decades.

More Republican Attorneys General Association donors freeze their financial support

Two weeks ago, the March to Save America rally in D.C. turned into a violent mob that stormed the U.S. Capitol and left five people dead. The Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA), along with its sister organization the Rule of Law Defense Fund (RLDF), which actively promoted the event, have been losing corporate donors ever since. Today we add a host of new and significant corporations to that list.
