Conservative Partnership Institute June 2022 SOS Meeting
Published on December 19, 2022The Conservative Partnership Institute (CPI) held a private event for state Secretaries of State in Washington DC on June 17, 2022, according to an email obtained by Documented.
The event was focused on the Electronic Registration Information Center (ERIC), a tool for performing cross-state voter registration checks that has become a target for right-wing conspiracy theories. CPI senior fellow Cleta Mitchell and Verity Vote's Heather Honey presented on the topic.
The agenda also included a presentation from Citizens for Renewing America president Russ Vought titled "Biden Executive Order - What States Can Do to Resist," an apparent reference to a March 2021 executive order directing federal agencies to promote voter registration.
Officials from Texas, Wyoming, Louisiana, and West Virginia were slated to attend the event, according to the email. Records from Texas show that CPI paid for travel and accommodation for an official from that state's Secretary of State office.
