The Foundation for Government Accountability's February 2023 Secretaries of State ESG Memo
Published on January 5, 2024A February 2023 memo from the Foundation for Government Accountability (FGA) titled "What Secretaries of State Can Do to Challenge the Threat of ESG" reveals FGA's strategy to weaponize secretaries of state in its attack against ESG. The memo fleshes out how secretaries of state can counter the "threat" of ESG and specifically references Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft's then-proposed anti-ESG rule as an example of actions secretaries of states can take.
On February 23, 2023 FGA's Senior Fellow Eric Bledsoe shared the memo with the Missouri Secretary of States Office for any feedback or edits.
