Independent Women's Law Center Wrote Republican Senators' KBJ Talking Points, Distributed Before She Was Even Nominated
Published on March 21, 2022Talking points from the Independent Women's Law Center, a project of the Independent Women's Forum (IWF), and its sister organization Independent Women's Voice (IWV). The document was distributed to Republican members of the U.S. Senate, and is dated February 24, 2022, the day before Ketanji Brown Jackson was nominated for a seat on the Supreme Court.
The talking points urge Republican Senators to attack the "judicial philosophy" of the at that time unnamed nominee.
Erin Hawley is a Senior Fellow at the Independent Women's Law Center, and is the wife of Senator Josh Hawley, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee. The name on the bottom of the document is Victoria Coley, a former Fox News producer.
IWF's past funders have included the Judicial Crisis Network, Rush Limbaugh, Facebook, Juul, and Marathon Petroleum Corporation. It has also received millions of dollars from the Freedom and Opportunity Fund, which was founded by Leonard Leo. Both IWF and IWV also receive substantial support through Donors Trust, which has been described as the "Dark-Money ATM of the Conservative Movement."
